Collaboration and sparring create success

Bruun & Hjejle's understanding of cultural and social trends is crucial to meeting clients' needs in the modern legal landscape. Sparring across seniority is therefore important - and here the perspective of young lawyers is a valuable resource.

Advances in technology are transforming the way complex disputes, transactions and client advice are handled. This requires a new, dynamic approach where young lawyers also bring innovative ideas and a natural understanding of modern, digitalised working life.

In the summer of 2023, Mette Aaskoven and Christopher Urban Hoffmann both reached a milestone - achieving the title of commercial law consultant and attorney at Bruun & Hjejle respectively. Since then, the year has been a steep learning curve, where their perspectives on workflows have been both sought after and recognised.

"I have seen an eagerness to keep up with developments, which is why everyone is incredibly receptive to input and optimisation suggestions for work processes. During the year, we have experimented with new systems and brainstormed on improvements to both negotiation meetings and our internal procedures and methods," says Mette Aaskoven, Commercial Law Consultant in Real Estate.

Christopher Urban Hoffmann, Attorney in Dispute Resolution, is particularly fond of feedback sessions with an 'I like, I wish' format that promotes a culture of learning and mutual curiosity.

"We work with feedback sessions on both large and small cases, involving everyone from partners to assistant attorneys. The sessions create a forum where everyone can share views and discuss specific cases - the mutual desire to optimise the work process really supports my understanding and approach to work."

Sparring with the brightest minds of the industry

Working as a commercial law consultant and lawyer respectively requires you to be adaptable, but also creates a unique opportunity to develop in collaboration with some of the brightest minds in the industry.

Quote by Mette Aaskoven

Every day brings new and different challenges in our work, where we encounter complex cases and issues that we have never seen before. I learn the most when I have the opportunity to take the lead in cases and shape decisions - and I feel safe in those situations because I have skilled colleagues behind me who I can always talk to. Being able to make demands on my own development and actively contribute to the progress of the firm is incredibly rewarding.

Young talent makes demands on the workplace

If you ask Mette and Christopher, it is not only the collaboration and sparring with the best in the industry that provides high job satisfaction, but also Bruun & Hjejle's ability to support modern working life.

"As an employee, you represent your workplace to the outside world. That is why it is important to me that Bruun & Hjejle works with values and concrete initiatives that I can vouch for - such as equal parental leave conditions for both parents," says Mette Aaskoven.

"I really appreciate that people are generally met with great understanding and flexibility. This is an important parameter for me in my working life and something that supports my well-being in everyday life and will also be important to me in the future," says Christopher Urban Hoffmann.
