Recruitment process
We look at the whole person when we employ new assistant attorneys or commercial law associates. In our opinion, good grades are not everything. Personality is every bit as important. You cannot simply study your way to becoming a brilliant attorney or commercial lawyer. Therefore, nobody will expect you to know everything from day one. We do expect you to be skilled and prepared to face a steep learning curve. Your time as an assistant attorney or commercial law associate is all about soaking up information, being curious and asking a whole lot of questions. At Bruun & Hjejle, we are interested in who you are as a person and where you would best fit in based on your particular skill set.
From assistant attorney or commercial law associate to attorney or commercial lawyer
As an assistant attorney or commercial law associate, you will build the perfect foundation for professional and personal development. You will get to take on demanding and complex tasks and participate regularly in our specifically tailored training programmes. As a new assistant attorney or commercial law associate, you will be enrolled in our induction programme Launch. Here, you will build a set of basic skills and get to know your assistant attorney/commercial law associate team. When you have completed Launch, you will be enrolled in Orbit, our in-house training programme for partners, attorneys, commercial lawyers and assistant attorneys/commercial law associates focusing on skills that enable you to understand the client's commercial reality and advise the client in the best possible way. Concurrently with Orbit, you will participate in seniority-based training, introducing you to specific legal areas and disciplines.
Your assistant attorney or commercial law associate training is based on close collaborative relationships with experienced attorneys and partners, because we believe that talent is starved in isolation – it needs to be honed in interaction with others. You’ll therefore be assigned to a mentor, typically an attorney from the same legal area of expertise as you will be working in. Your mentor supports your professional learning and personal development by providing continuous feedback and collaborative interaction.
